Biography
Jane's what you might call an 'accidental CEO', having decided at the tender age of five that what she really wanted to be was a doctor.
During her training, she spent time in a children's ward and as a result, decided to specialise in paediatric medicine after she qualified. This led to a spell as a consultant paediatric neurologist at Guy's before moving to Great Ormond Street as Medical Director.
As CEO of Great Ormond Street Hospital, Jane is responsible for every aspect of running a world-class hospital which treats more than 100,000 children every year.
Meanwhile, as Chief Executive of the Great Ormond Street Children's Charity, she has the onerous task of raising more than £50 million every year from donors all around the world. Yet she still has time to write her 'Ask Dr Jane' column in The Times, and even to treat some patients at Great Ormond Street too.
